Local Store Update (1/26/13) – Toys”R”Us

Subtitle: “Some Beasts Are Leaving, New Beasts Arriving!”

So, a trip to my local Toys”R”Us this evening had me quite surprised.

First of all, for the Beasts that are leaving: Looks like Beyblade is on the way out. Yup, there was sale on all Beyblade stuff – Buy 1 Get One Half Off. Seems the fad of Beyblade did not last as long as it first did.

So along with the sale on Beyblade, they were also having a sale on all current Transformers stock as well. Same sale – Buy 1, Get One Half Off. Seems they are making room for the new Transformers waves coming this year.

As for the new “Beasts” coming in, the first are the new Power Rangers Megaforce items, be they Ranger action figures, Megazords, and Oversize Ranger toys. Honestly, I don’t know what to think of the Megaforce Red Ranger the size of a small child. Kinda creepy…

However, the best of the Beasts that arrived were the Transformers Prime Beast Hunters toys. With the sale that Toys”R”Us was having on Transformers, I managed to snag these for a total of $25. Great deal for me!

Local Store Update (Late Edition from 1/17/13) – 1/22/13

A bit of a late update for the blog, but here is my journey to my local Target.

Even the poor Voyager class Transformers are lacking.

Interesting Finds at Toys R Us – 1/12/13

So, despite my post about not finding anything I wanted to buy at my local Toys R Us today, I did see some interesting toys/games there today.

The first thing that made me a little sad was seeing the bare hook at the Beyblade section. Seems Beyblade is once again on it’s way out. I am gonna be sad to see it go again. I take it that it just really didn’t take off like I thought it would.

For the fans of BotShots out there, there are now Team sets. The first is the Stunticons and the other is the Autobot Polar Assault Team. Now I do like the BotShots, but since I really don’t find them very collectible I decided to pass on them.

Very cool to see the two versions of the same mold for the Fall of Cybertron Soundwave/SoundBlaster. Again very cool, but not something I was interested in.

Kinda surprised this one got past me as far as video games go. I was hoping we would get a Thundercats game, but I think it’s a too little too late.

Now this was something I was certainly not expecting to see at my Toys R Us. Doctor Who – The Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver. Now I am not a huge fan of Doctor Who, but I do like the show. I was half tempted to get this, but when I found out it was $30, I decided to skip it. For that price, it better make one hell of a cup of tea or coffee!

Local Store Update – 1/12/13

Well, same stuff different day at my local Toys R Us…

Seems to be the norm at the local Toys R Us here. Everything that has been there since Christmas is still there, with not a whole lot of new toys added. Not a lot of change week to week, despite me bugging the staff about when they will be getting truckloads in. However, I have been friendly with one of the staff, and she has been able to tell me when their trucks come in, so my journey will never end.

Local Store Update – 1/11/13

A sad, sad day today at my local Wal-Mart.

The Post-Christmas drought of toys is just awful here. My local Wal-Mart has bare hooks and shelves for the toys I usually go after. I also suspect that this is also due to new toys that may be may be coming out in 2013.

But it is still a sad day when I see bare toy areas not filled with toys.

Hey fellow toy collectors, I thought I would sit down for a moment and introduce you guys to toy collectors/reviewers that have influenced my own collecting. These are people I have come across via the great big Internet and follow their exploits into toy collecting, as well as how their interests have influenced my own collecting.

https://www.youtube.com/user/barutazaru – Another Transformers collector whose videos I have found very noteworthy when it comes to the ups and downs of collecting Transformers.

https://www.youtube.com/user/Vange1us – Vangelus! The guy whose videos make me laugh and gives me the greatest amount of information about Transformers and other toys from here in the US and Japan, as well as great reviews on Third Party Toys.

https://www.youtube.com/user/LordDraconical – Lord Drac! This guy is one of the top (If not THY Top!) Nerf reviewer/modder on Youtube. He has inspired my love of Nerf after a long time of being out of the loop of the brand.

https://www.youtube.com/user/ShukuenShinobi – Good old Shuki! This guy makes me want to spend all my money on Japanese import toys, be they figures, role play toys, etc. Check him out!

Chris The Toyman – About Me, My Collection So Far, And My Obsessions!

Greetings everyone, my name is Chris The Toyman!

I am toy collector, albeit one with a very small collection of toys so far, but I plan to expand that as I find more and more toys that interest me.

I currently live in the middle of nowhere Iowa (like I am really gonna tell you where I live, psh!) and I scour the local stores and other collectors here to increase my collection, as well as attend anime cons to get the more rare Japanese toys to add to my collection.

I have my secret places as well where I do get toys, and I may be willing to share if other collectors promise not to snipe me for items I post about!

Anyway, the toys that I usually collect are:

Well, that is just a little about me. I plan on making this blog a fun place to show off my collection, my finds, my hunts for toys at stores,  con toy hunts, etc.
